In the final seconds, pure elation broke out for Chelsea and caretaker boss Calum McFarlane as Enzo Fernández bundled in a dramatic equaliser. The goal left Pep Guardiola howling at the heavens and gifted the temporary Chelsea manager a truly golden moment. On paper, Guardiola versus McFarlane was the Premier League's greatest managerial mismatch in class, making the memory of Fernández's crucial intervention one to cherish the 40-year-old for years to come.

A Stark Contrast in Experience

On the home bench stood the most decorated manager of his time, a man with an unparalleled CV for elite clubs Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, overseeing his 1,012th match. In the visitors' dugout, stood a former coach at non-league sides Croydon and Whyteleafe, who had worked in City's own academy and arrived to make his senior managerial bow after being seconded from his regular role overseeing Chelsea's youth teams.
